Effect of Large Openings on Bending Strength of Reinforced Concrete Beam

At the design stage of beams, openings for service ducts are rarely taking into consideration. The introduction have negative effects on strength characteristics hence focus this research is to investigate effect large ultimate load reinforced concrete beams produced from locally available materials. A total ten were cast using 20.8 N/mm² grade. cross-sectional dimensions 100mm x 150mm and 1000 mm length, with effective span 750 mm. tested consisted two control beams. experimental eight four 40 (with having at centre supports) other had 50 holes supports). cured by covering it wet cloths 28th day. subjected point loads beam study load. average actual supports (TII) (TIII) 49.48 kN 63.28 respectively, representing 28% increase in when opening moved support beam.
